Erhard Löblein
Lives and works in Erkrath, Germany
The simplified, almost primitive rendering of the characters in Erhard Löblein´s paintings expect the viewer to posess the ability to concentrate on the essential. The central figures seem to be too big for the canvas and give the impression of an undesired tension. The figure almost wants to break through the frame of the image to escape. The fact that eyes are often closed or covered takes away the identity of the characters and allows them to be projected onto every single one of us.
Alexander Timofeev
Currently lives and works in Regensburg, Germany
Alexander Timofeev is essential for the change back to highly qualitative technique and realistic execution. His hyperrealistic painting style originates from his strict education in St. Peterburg, where he lived before moving to Germany in 1994. His work has a smooth surface, is painted precisely, and reflects the cold subject of the paintings.
