Ralf Koenemann (born 1961 in Essen, Germany) is displaying is large scale paintings to the theme of South Seas.

In his colourful, expressive pieces, Koenemann interprets the phrase South Seas as a metaphor for longing. Not the specific topography, the island in the pacific, is the motive for his work. He sympathises with the human need to be close to nature. Thereby he is looking at past and future likewise. South Seas is the Ruhr and coast of Florida.
